How to store fruits and vegetables........

fruits and vegetables are healthy but only when consumed fresh. Most of us tend to throw away some vegetables and fruits because they get spoilt over a period of time.

Here's how to keep them fresh for a longer period of time

Buying........

Fresh fruits and vegetables won't stay fresh for more than a week, so shop accordingly. There's no point stocking more just because it is available for cheap. So plan well before yous shop to avoid wastage.
We all have local grocery shops but it's best if you avoid buying fruits and veggies from there and shop from the main market instead. The local shops may have bought grocery weeks before and you may not certainly get fresh produce.

Where to store and how to store.....?

Do not store veg and fruits together

Keep away ethylene producers : Fruits that give off high level of ethylene can prematurely ripen and spoil surrounding vegetables.these should be kept away from other to avoid spoilage like Apple, bananas, figs ,tomatoes, papaya ,banana(ripen ) , green onions........

there are 4 ways to store....

1)Refrigerator

Fruits like berries, plums, carrots, cauliflower, lettuce and spinach ,cabbage, beans , cauliflower, radish, peas etc ,need to be stored in the refrigerator

Green leafy vegetables except basil should be in refrigerator.

Okra and mushrooms to be stored in paper bags and should be washed just before using.

2)Counter top

while apples, bananas, tomatoes, lemon, oranges, papaya, watermelon, grapes ........ can be stored on the counter top.
Basil should be kept in airtight container

3)Open and dry
Garlic, ginger,Potatoes and onion can be kept in open, cool, dry environment.

4)Ripen and refrigerate
Plums, peaches, pears, avocados, kiwi  you can keep them on the counter top for a day or two and then keep them in the fridge.

51 years of     "ae mere vathan ke logo"...............

This is a great  Hindi patriotic song written by Kavi Pradeep and composed by C.Ramchandra commemorating Indian soldiers who died during the Sino-Indian War.
Kavi Pradeep was reportedly moved to compose the song by accounts of casualties of the war.
The song was famously performed live on January 27, 1963 by Lata Mangeshkar
at the National Stadium in the presence of Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru at the Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi on account of Republic Day (26 January) 1963, just two months after the end of the war. A copy of the soundtrack spool was also later gifted to Nehru on the occasion. The song is said to have moved Nehru to tears. All of the artists and technicians involved with the song — including singers, musicians, music director, lyricist, recording studio, sound recordist — and later, lyricist Kavi Pradeep pledged the royalty of the song in perpetuity to the War Widows Fund.In 2005, the Bombay High Court asked the music company HMV to indicate a lump sum payable to the Army Welfare Fund from the song's royalty proceeds.

Today after 51 years  completing golden jubilee since the Lata Mangeshkar sang the patriotic song ‘Ae Mere Vatan Ke Logon’, BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will felicitate the legendary playback singer at a mega event in Mumbai on Monday. The programme will begin at 8:30 pm in the evening. The felicitation, as part of the Shreshtha Bharat Divas celebrations, will be held at Race Course, Mahalaxmi in Mumbai. Many celebrities and national figures along with more than one lakh Indians are expected to sing the song on Monday. However, Lata Mangeshkar will reportedly not sing the song either solo or in chorus.Monday’s programme, organised by Shahid Gaurav Samiti, an institution commemorating national heroes, in association with Lodha Foundation, is about the 1962 war between India and China. The event will see over a hundred Param Vir Chakra, Maha Vir Chakra and other gallantry award winners being felicitated along with their families.

Lyrics Of Legendary Song........

Aye Mere Watan Ke Logon
Tum Khub Lagaa Lo Naaraa
Ye Shubh Din Hai Hum Sab Kaa
Leharaa Lo Tirangaa Pyaaraa
Par Mat Bhulo Siimaa Par
Veeron Ne Hai Praan Ganwaae
Kuchh Yaad Unhein Bhi Kar Lo
Kuchh Yaad Unhein Bhi Kar Lo
Jo LauT Ke Ghar Na Aaye
Jo LauT Ke Ghar Na Aaye

Aye Mere Watan Ke Logon
Zaraa Aankh Mein Bhar Lo Paani
Jo Shahid Hue Hain Unki
Zaraa Yaad Karo Qurbaani

Jab Ghaayal Hua Himaalay
Khatare Mein Padi Aazaadi
Jab Tak Thi Saans Ladhe Wo
Phir Apani Laash Bichhaa Dii
Sangiin Pe Dhar Kar Maathaa
So Gaye Amar Balidaani
Jo Shahid Hue Hain Unki
Zaraa Yaad Karo Qurbaani

Jab Desh Mein Thi Diwaali
Wo Khel Rahe The Holi
Jab Hum Baithe The Gharon Mein
Wo Jhel Rahe The Goli
The Dhanya Jawaan Wo Aapane
Thi Dhanya Wo Unki Jawaani
Jo Shahid Hue Hain Unki
Zaraa Yaad Karo Qurbaani

Koi Sikh Koi Jaat Maraatha
Koi Gorkhaa Koi Madaraasi
Sarhad Pe Marane Waalaa
Har Veer Thaa Bhaaratvaasi
Jo Khoon Giraa Parvat Par
Wo Khoon Thaa Hindustaani
Jo Shahid Hue Hain Unki
Zaraa Yaad Karo Qurbaani

Thi Khoon Se Lath Pat Kaayaa
Phir Bhi Bandhuk Uthaake
Dus Dus Ko Ek Ne Maaraa
Phir Gir Gaye Hosh Ganwaa Ke
Jab Ant Samay Aayaa To
Keh Gaye Ke Ab Marte Hain
Khush Rehanaa Desh Ke Pyaaron
Ab Hum To Safar Karte Hain
Kyaa Log The Wo Deewaane
Kyaa Log The Wo Abhimaani
Jo Shahid Hue Hain Unki
Zaraa Yaad Karo Qurbaani

Tum Bhool Naa Jaao Unko
Is Liye Kahi Ye Kahaani
Jo Shahid Hue Hain Unki
Zaraa Yaad Karo Qurbaani

Solidified bournvita,boost usage..........
Chocolate laddo.....

Hi friends
I went though this  in this winter .what to do with bournvita which has become rock.i hardly used 3 or 4 spoons from that bottle .after searching in net i got some recipies but i like my own which i experimented.try this if your bournvita is not too old and you dont want to waste .

Add caption

Ingredients..

Besan/bengalgram flour...........1+1/2 cup
Butter.......4 cubes
Sugar........1/2 cup
Dry fruits
Water.........1 cup

Boil water and pour in boost/bournvita bottle and use fork to bring it out from bottle, this is toughest part .if u feel water is less u can put more hot water but reduce it while boiling the sause later.ok now take a pan and start flame and put in 2 cubes of butter when it melts add flour and mix well, roast the flour till it looses its raw smell and turns little golden brown and take this out from pan.
Now in the same pan add remaining butter and empty bournvita bottle which contains liquid as well as some solid rock also now keep stirring and boil this mixture to make a thick sauce and add sugar once sugar melts add dry friuts ,now add the roasted flour and keep stirring so that no lumps are formed.keep stirring till it looses maximum amount of water and have little moisture in it so that u can give shap.now pour this into a flat greesed with butter vessel and let it cool and keep it in fridge for 5 min. Once it cools down take out greese your hands with butter and make round bolls out of it   .....
They look like chocolate bolls ,healthy and yummu...
U can use all purpose flour also insted of besan but you feel  little sticky while eating

This is the country of colors and faith in spirituals.
Lets this Republic day reminds us for the work and
life given by our soldiers to safe and happy life.

HAPPY REPUBLIC DAY .......

  1. Simple steps for healthy hair........

  1. 1)Wash your hair with a good quality shampoo. Many people insist that washing hair too often can leave hair dried ,Some people wash their hair only twice a week.
  2. Try shampoos that do not contain sulfates or parabens. Sulfates are the chemicals that make shampoos lather up. Parabens are preservatives that cause irritation and eye problems after use. Both of these chemicals aren't healthy for you or the environment so try to use shampoos with natural cleansers.Choose a shampoo that suits your hair type. Don't just go for any old shampoo; go for the shampoo that works for you .oily hair pobably wants a gentle shampoo designed for daily washing.colored hair probably needs a shampoo that's with extracts or amino acids, because treating your hair is essentially damaging it. Dryhair probably needs shampoos with glycerin and collagen to help restore some moisture into the hair.

  • 2)Use conditioner depending on your hair type, length
  •  A good rule of thumb is to condition every time you shampoo your hair, although very processed or dyed hair probably needs a little more love than natural hair.Deep condition once a week. Use a store-bought product, or venture out on your own and try a homemade solution.Follow these steps for conditioning your hair properly based on hair type. For fine hair If you have very limp hair, try a botanical oil treatment before you shampoo. Use lavender or tea-tree oil, for example, and work it under your cuticles before shampooing. Wash shampoo away and apply conditioner from the mid-shaft down to the end. Leave in for a minute before washing
  • For thick hair, use a moisturizer with natural hydrators. Keep your conditioner light. Apply conditioner all over your head and let stay for 2-3 minutes.
  • Be careful about using products with too much protein. Too much protein can leave your hair feeling desiccated and brittle. While protein is the building block of healthy hair, use conditioners that come with balanced ingredients.
  • Frizz-control serum can be used in small quantities to tame frizzes. Make sure you do not use too much, and wash once a week with a deep-cleanse shampoo to avoid build-up, which will leave hair looking dull and flaky.

  • 3)Don't brush your hair too much. Brushing your hair stimulates the follicles which promotes growth, but brushing too much too often, will cause damage to your hair strands that results in frizz and split ends.

  • 4)Let hair dry naturally. After you get out of the shower, wrap your hair in a cotton T-Shirt. Towls are made of fabric that is very rough and damaging to your hair, causing frizziness and split ends. Avoid brushing hair while wet, as it makes the hair brittle and weak. Only use a wide tooth comb to brush out tangles while hair is wet.
  • Try not to use a blow-drier. Healthy hair does not respond well to heat. Hair can sustain heat damage easily, especially from blow-driers. If you have to use a blow-drier, dry your hair using the lowest-temperature setting and limit usage to once a week.
  • If you shower before you sleep overnight, put your hair up in a bun and let it air-dry overnight. Your hair should be dry in the morning.

  • 5)Trim your hair regularly. The best way to get rid of split ends is to...do it yourself! Take some hair shears and attack the split ends about 1/4 inch above the splitting. Many women with perfect hair never have split ends because they make it a priority to get their hair trimmed, or trim it themselves, every 6-8 weeks.

  • 6)Treat or dye your hair sparingly, if at all. Dyeing and treating your hair can take a lot out of it. People who opt for au naturel often don't experience the same problem with dry, damaged, or over-processed hair.
  • If you do dye your hair, try it every once in a while. Take a break from dyeing and give your hair a little breather. It should respond favorably.

  • 7)Style your hair naturally, minimizing styling damage. Styling by itself won't overly damage your hair, but repeated stylings multiple times per week put some serious strain on hair.
  • Avoid perming, crimping, straightening, curling, and bleaching or repeatedly coloring hair if at all possible. So you want to go out on Saturday night and need your hair straightened. That's fine. Just make it an occasional treat, not a permanent thing.
  • Don't use rubber bands to pull back or otherwise style hair. Rubber bands will encourage your hair to get snagged, ripping it out of the follicle.
  • Try not to use hairstyles that tightly pin or pull the hair back. Styles such as cornrows or tight ponytails can cause damage at the roots, or put stress on the follicles.
  • Instead, experiment with up-dos: a simple ponytail or chignon looks clean and requires very few hair products. You could also just keep your hair down and wear a headband

  • 8)Eat healthy and give your hair the right amount of vitamins. Since hair is made of proteins, make sure that you eat a balanced diet rich in lean protein, whole grains, fruits and vegetables. A healthy diet will ensure better-looking, better-feeling hair.
  • Make sure you get plenty of vitamin C (strengthens hair), iron (helps transport oxygen to blood vessels), zinc (grows and repairs tissue), and omega-3 fatty acids (grows healthy hair).
  • Give your hair some time to show new brilliance. What you eat will not have an immediate difference on the hair you already have, but it will help with hair that is newly growing.
  • 9)Remove stress from your life. Physical and mental stressors will keep your hair from realizing its full potential. Stress can cause hair loss, so try not to let stress overcome you. This means finding healthy emotional outlets for your stress: yoga, biking, meditation, or other forms of exercise all work well.

    Holy basil.......great benefits.......

Basil is a common herb in most of our kitchens, but did you know that, besides tasting good in our chicken and pasta dishes, it can be of use toward having more healthy bodies? It is an excellent alternative health treatment for many minor ailments.

Grown originally in Asia and the Middle East, basil travelled the world along the spice trail. It has been grown and used for 5000 years and has hundreds of varieties and is now cultivated in many countries. All of its varieties have unique and individual chemical make-ups; and yet the base medicinal properties remain consistent from one strain to another.

The volatile oils of dried basil are weak, so fresh basil is usually better in both our cooking and our healing treatments.

The main use of basil medicinally is as a natural anti-inflammatory. It is similar to the compounds found in oregano and medical marijuana – and may be used as a substitute for the later because it offers the same relief without the “high.” The same compound that makes it useful as an anti-inflammatory is also believed to help combat bowel inflammation and rheumatoid arthritis.

Many naturopathic doctors prescribe basil in treatment of diabetes, respiratory disorders, allergies, impotence, and infertility. This may be because basil contains cinematic acid, which has been found to enhance circulation, stabilise blood sugar, and improve breathing in those with respiratory disorders.

It is also know that basil is very high in antioxidants, especially when it is used as an extract or oil. These antioxidants can protect your body against free radical damage associated with ageing, some skin ailments, and most forms of cancer.

Antioxidants have become an important part of keeping our bodies healthy, and basil may be among the safest and most effective sources of these life-giving compounds.
Additional scientific research has shown that the volatile oils in basil, combined with their antioxidant effects, make it a great health boost for our immune systems.

Fresh basil leaves and basil oil have antibacterial properties. They can be used to disinfect surfaces. Leaves, applied to wounds, may eliminate infections. Basil used in your cooking or taken as a nutritional supplement can assist in combating common viruses like colds, flu, and the herpes family of viruses.

    Tips for healthy life...........

Choosing a healthy lifestyle can lead to a longer, more fulfilling life. Improving your physical and mental health has a positive effect on everyone around you.

You can teach your family and friends  better habits through example. There's no need to be intimidated by the idea of living healthier. Make a few small changes and see big results.

    Get Moving

There are exercise programs out there that promise amazing body transformations in a short amount of time but they're grueling. If you love that kind of challenge then go for it! To begin an exercise regimen that's less extreme, start with walking. Walking is a great way to ease into exercise and is less taxing on your joints than jogging or running. Even a 10 minute walk down the street will increase your stamina and boost your metabolism. When the weather doesn't permit walking outdoors, try the local gym. Elliptical machines are kinder to your knees and with their adjustable resistance you can increase the challenge as muscles strengthen. A treadmill is a great way to get walking too and with the adjustable incline you can experience the unique challenge of traversing hills.

    Hydrate Properly

Drinking enough water is vital to your health. Proper hydration aids in digestion, organ function and protects joint health. Consuming the proper amount of water daily keeps your skin healthy and helps flush out any toxins in your system. You need to drink more water when you're exercising because you sweat it out.sports drinks are okay after a strenuous workout because they replace electrolytes but be aware that they contain sugar and added calories that you won't find in water. Fruit juices are good hydration too because they have vitamins and minerals but even the most natural juices contain sugar and sometimes high amounts of sodium.

    Fresh Air and Sunshine

Venturing out into the sunlight has many benefits, a major one being that when your skin is exposed to sunlight, it produces Vitamin D. Vitamin D helps your body absorb calcium which is vital for building and maintaining strong, healthy bones. Low levels of Vitamin D can cause obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes and depression. Vitamin D's ability to aid osteoporosis and rickets. Sunlight isn't the only source of Vitamin D, it can also be found in fortified dairy products, cod liver oil, eggs and fish like salmon and tuna.

    Rest and Relaxation

Never underestimate the importance of a good night's sleep! As hectic as your life is, your body needs time to recharge. Insufficient sleep can lead to fatigue, depression and anxiety. Even just a few nights of not enough sleep affect your mood, judgment and memory. Longer bouts of inadequate sleep can lead to health problems like depression, and heartdisease. You might be tempted to try and work through a problem by staying up all night but it's better to sleep on it. Quite often the right solution presents itself in the morning after a good night's rest.

    Eat Naturally

A good rule of thumb to use when grocery shopping is if you can't pronounce the ingredients then you shouldn't be putting it in your body. Fresh fruits and vegetables, lean protein, and whole grain foods are best for your body. Many breads that claim to be whole grain and nutritious are also full of preservatives and excess sugar. Take eating healthy a step further by baking as much food as you can from scratch. You'll gain peace of mind knowing exactly what ingredients went into the food you're eating. Also, keep an eye on eye on the nutritional labels of the foods you ingest and even the meds or treatments you use on your body (toothpaste, bodywash, etc).
Some simple ways to reduce stress.....

    Have a laugh
While all of us have work and family responsibilities, stressing out too much about them will simply cause you more grief — both mentally as well as physically. There are several ways you can unwind — watch your favourite comedy, catch up with close friendsand talk about funny memories. Research says that every time you laugh out loud, increased oxygen flows to your organs, blood flow increases, and stress automatically reduces.

    Spend time with your pet
Pets are known not only to give you unconditional love, but spending time with them is actually good for your health. Studies say that when you pet your dog/ cat even for just a few minutes, your body releases feel-good hormones like serotonin, prolactin, and oxytocin, and also decreases the amount of the damaging stress hormones. This results in lower blood pressure, less anxiety and even better immunity.

    Get rid of the clutter
Are you surrounded by too many things in a not-so-very big space? Having too much stuff can leave you feeling overwhelmed and bog you down, eventually leading to stress. Living in constantly messy surroundings brings on unwanted anxiety. Therefore, experts say you need to de-clutter to de-stress. Don't start by wanting to clear up everything at once. That will only stress you out further. Begin with a small space and gradually move to bigger things. A space that is uncluttered can feel satisfying and soothing.

Do yoga just for little time
Just 15 minutes of practice a day can make a huge impact on your life. You can do 10 minutes in the morning and five minutes at night. The mantra is: just keep practising. Movement is essential.

    Do the housework
While this might seem like a mundane, everyday chore, try to do things a bit differently. Put on your favourite music or TV show in the background, make a list of all that needs to be done, and get down working. Not only will you burn calories and get your work down, you won't be tired and stressed out at the end of it.

    Drink juices
Researchers say that the vitamin c present in orange juice can actually help you manage stress better because it lowers levels of stress hormones like cortisol. Remember that vitamin C-rich foods such as orange juice, grapefruit juice, strawberries, or sweet red peppers boost your immune system.

    Sing out loud
When was the last time you sang loudly to your heart's content? Turn up the radio and start singing. No matter how bad you think you are, studies show that singing can actually make you feel happier and feel less stressed. Singing also benefits your breathing, heart and immune system.

    Go for a walk
One of the best ways to beat stress is to exercise. It helps your body produce endorphins that make you feel good. Exercising in warm weather can boost your mood while a daily brisk walk of about 30 minutes can greatly reduce stress levels.

    Breathe deeply
invest in some lavender or rosemary scents and take a deep whiff — it will instantly put you in a more relaxed state and lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol. If you prefer not to use scents, practice the act of deep breathing regularly. This sends oxygen surging through your bloodstream, helping to calm down and beat stress.
